If we are not talking about searching for complete data, no one goes beyond the first page of the search query. That is why there is a fierce battle for a position in the top 10 of Google or Bing. To claim a “place in the sun”, you need to delve into the question of which sites appear on the first lines and why.

What are Description and Title

Properly composed and written meta tags are an important part search engine promotion.

Any website is a set of tags and html code. When a person makes a request, search algorithms find the necessary information based on key criteria. For this, among other things, meta tags are responsible, which literally means markup elements when translated from English. The attention the algorithm pays to the site and where the resource ends up depends on how correctly the meta tags are written. Basic elements related to website sorting:

  • Title (title) – the most relevant meta regarding the search query, the title of the site, is displayed on the browser page if you hover over the tab with the mouse;
  • Description (description) – the second most important parameter, a brief description of the page from the search results, this text is not visible to the user directly on the site, the tag is used by the search algorithm to make the pages relevant;
  • keywords (keywords) – an outdated machine tag, visible only to search engines, a list of keywords relevant to the body of the landing page;
  • headers H (1, 2, 3…) are tag importance coordinators that break information text into logical blocks.

How to correctly compose and write meta tags? Knowing the basics will help with this. The main tag of the page is title. It is important for the search engine and for the user, so the complexity of its formation is increased and requires creativity. “Inside” the site, the title is placed in the closing tag <title> … </title>. The number of characters in a sentence is usually 70-80 characters. The title is made up of the main and additional key queries of the article, where the main key is usually indicated at the beginning (on the left), and after the dash there is a composite of secondary queries.

How to write a Description tag correctly

Description is no less difficult to form. For the user, this meta tag is a short, selling sentence that briefly outlines the useful content of the page. Previously, there was a character limit of no more than 300 characters, but now longer descriptions are often found. The most frequent keyword or query is indicated first. Example of design in code: <meta name=“description“ content=” … “>. Only taking these rules into account can you correctly compose and write meta tags for a website page.

The current condition for each tag is uniqueness. Not only among the pages of one site, but also in conditions of general competition. Title and Description should not be composed in the same way, nor should they coincide with the headings of the text content. You can increase brand or store recognition by writing the name at the end of the Title on each landing page. In the case of Description, this meta tag needs to be made as attractive as possible for the user.
